Trail Work Procedures

About 2 weeks before a scheduled workday, Bread Loaf Section's Trails Manager, sends an email reminder to everyone on our crew list asking to be notified whether or not the volunteer will join to work crew for that work day.

Because we borrow tools from the U.S. Forest Service in Middlebury, our Trails Manager needs to let them know a couple of days in advance of the number and types of tools needed.

Usually a work day starts about 9:00 a.m., meeting either at the Ripton Community Center or up at Middlebury Gap on Rt. 125. The location is always included in the warning email. Depending on how much work we have and the size of the crew, we are usually done around noon or early afternoon.

Workers should wear boots, bring water and snacks, and dress appropriately for the weather.

If you have questions or want to be added to the crew list, please email David Morrissey at email or phone 802-352-1060. Thanks!

It's been a wet fall so far, and the waterbars need to be cleared of sediment & leaf litter.
